Spot color is a special blend of black, used to replace or supplement the printing color (CMYK) ink. Each spot requires a special plate for printing. (it is also considered a spot color because it requires a separate print.)
Assign a spot color to the image by:
¡¤ to apply the spot color as one color to the whole image, convert the image to "two-tone" mode, and apply the spot color on one of the two-tone printing plates. You can use up to four spot colors, one for each printing.
¡¤ the spot color channel must be created for specific areas of the image. Spot color channel allows you to add and preview spot colors in the image. The following guidelines will help you to use a spot color channel:
If you need a spot color pattern with a sharp edge and discard the image below, consider creating additional drawings in a page layout or illustration application.
You can create a new spot color channel or convert an existing Alpha channel to a spot color channel.
Like the Alpha channel, you can edit or delete a spot color channel at any time.
The color palette cannot be applied to a single layer.
The spot color is embossed on top of a fully composite image.
If you print an image containing a spot color channel to a composite printer, the spot color will be printed as an additional page.
You can combine the spot color channel with the color channel to separate the spot color into its color channel component. Merge spot color channel allows you to print single-page proofs of spot color images on desktop printers.
The name of the special color is printed on the color page.
Each spot color channel is printed in the order in which it is displayed in the channel palette.
Unless you are in the "multichannel" mode, you cannot move the spot color channel to the default channel in the channel palette. To move the spot color channel in the channel palette to make them print before other plates, convert the image to "multi-channel" mode.
